Val founded Mother Hubbard's Cupboard in May 2008 and has devoted herself tirelessly to assisting the needs of the community. She oversees all management and operations of MHC as well as chairing the Committee. She engages with so many agencies within Macarthur but also manages projects nationally and abroad.
Val's passion for MHC's goals is contagious and any time spent with her leaves a person feeling excited and enthusiastic at the generosity of the community. It's impossible to walk away without feeling encouraged about the human spirit and inspired to help out.
Val was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to the community.

BRENDA RUSSELL - ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Brenda's friendly and engaging personality has ensured our store is well managed for many years. In her busy role, Brenda supervises many day-to-day tasks of a varied nature. She manages volunteers, grant expenditure, furniture donations, and delivery of essential items to households all whilst making sure the store runs smoothly.
Brenda's understanding of the Macarthur district's requirements for support has been paramount in achieving our charitable obectives. Brenda's longstanding relationships with local agencies and other not-for-profit organisations is testament to her ability to generously deliver the furniture and essential items to households requiring immediate support.

Karen oversees daily operations to ensure they support our fundamental objectives. She works closely with our founder, Val, and colleague, Brenda, to transform the committee's long term vision into a strategic operational plan.
Karen's degrees in Business and Financial Planning provide valuable knowledge into the oversight of operations, management accounting, and productivity efficiencies. Her commercial accounting experience has highlighted the importance of organisational culture on overall success as opposed to being hyperfocused on bottom line figures.

Brenda matches the furniture requirements of families rebuilding homes after surviving domestic violence with the community members looking to donate their furniture. It's a complex and time-consuming task but Brenda sends out a truck full of furniture each week.
She performs the central function in ensuring the community is working for the community.

Our ability to receive furniture donations is limited to storage capability, community needs and shop space. We wish we could accept everything on offer but that capability isn't available to us just yet. Please be understanding of our limitations as they currently stand.
